War Veteran Answers "Taps"

Harrison Hartzell, aged 75, Civil War veteran and ritired plasterer died from complications Sunday, 5:30 p. m. at his home, 471 West Perry street.

He was born December 25, 1841, near Cherry Corners south of the city and spent his whole life in the vacinity. He served three years during the Civil War as a member of Co. I, Eighth Ohio. He had been retired for 20 years. He had been ill eight weeks.

The deceased leaves a widow, two sons, Thomas, Tiffin, and John, Cleveland. There also is a half brother Israel Hartzell. He was a member of Gibson Post, G. A. R., and the business mens bible class of the M. P. Church.

Funeral services were held Tuesday 1 p. m. at the house conducted by Rev. F. L. Brown and under the auspices of the G. A. R. Burial in Rock Run Cemetery.



NOTE: There are several errors in this article;
1) he was born in Lehigh Co., PA, and was raised near Cherry Corners
2) He spent several years in Hamilton Co., IN, and lived in Lehigh Co. untill age 5 1/2
