Services At N. D. For Two Brothers Killed In Crash

Notre Dame - Funeral services for Brother Sabinus, C.S.C., 44, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Bauer, Grand Rapids, Mich., and Brother Cesaire, C.S.C., 25, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hartzell, Tiffin, Ohio, were held at 8 a.m. Tuesday from Sacred Heart church, on the Notre Dame campus. The Holy Cross brothers were killed Saturday afternoon when the light delivery truck in which they were riding collided with a larger truck near Marcellus, Mich. The Rev. Joseph A. Maguire, C.S.C., superior of the Community house of the Congregation of Holy Cross at Notre Dame, was celebrant of the solemn Mass. Interment took place in the community cemetery.

The condition of three other Brothers injured in the same accident is reported to be improved. Most seriously injured is Brother Ladislaus, C.S.C., who is in a Kalamazoo, Mich., hospital. He has regained consciousness and physicians reported Monday that unless complications develope, he will recover. The other two, Brother Eustace, C.S.C., and Brother Valeries, C.S.C., who were taken to a Paw Paw, Mich., hospital were brought by ambulance Monday to St. Joseph's hospital, South Bend. Their injuries are less serious but they will be confined to the hospital to recover from shock, cuts and bruises. Brother Eustace suffered a fractured collar bone.
