Rosalie Hartzell

Rosalie Hartzell, 99, formerly of 471 West Perry St., died at 2:18 a.m. today, Aug. 17, 1984, at St. Francis Home, where she had been a resident since March 1982.

She was born Dec. 21, 1884, in Junction, Ohio, to the late Francis and Mary Louise (Didier) Reiniche. On May 23, 1907, she married Thomas H. Hartzell in St. John's Church in Delphos and he died in 1955.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Eugene (Mary) Elchert, Mrs. Paul (Ellen) Elchert and Mrs. Walter (Regina) Beat, all of Tiffin; three sons, Victor of Defiance, Eugene of Ypsilanti, Mich., and Robert of Tiffin; 46 grandchildren, 106 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Two sons, Harry and Brother Cesaire, and 10 grandchildren are deceased. She was the last of a family of 10.

Mrs. Hartzell had been employed for many years as a housekeeper at the Ursuline Convent and was a member of St. Mary's Church and it's Alter Rosary Society, the Poor Souls Society and the Secular Franciscan Order.

The funeral mass at 9:30 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Church will be followed by burial in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hannay-Nemith Mortuary, where a Christian wake service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday. Members of the Alter Rosary Society will recite the rosary at 9:15 a.m. Monday at the church.
